TIS General English courses are designed to help you achieve fluency, accuracy and confidence but, above all, to help you communicate effectively.
Key features include:-
A choice of 18, 23 or 30 hours tuition per week (1 tuition hour = 60 minutes)
Classes take place from Monday to Friday inclusive
Class size - maximum 10 students per class with a maximum of 12 per class in July/August
Average class size 6-8 in winter and 8-9 in summer
Multi-national classes and a multi-cultural experience
Use of TIS course books and tuition materials
Reduced prices for long-stay students
Minimum age 16 years - but our students are frequently older - in their 20s, 30s, 40s and 50+
Levels – Elementary to Advanced
Course length – from 2 weeks to 1 year
Start dates – almost every Monday throughout the year
Exam courses for IELTS, FCE, CAE, CPE, TOEIC, TOEFL
Level Test on the first Monday
Regular monitoring of students' level throughout the course
Additional level test on request
End of course Certificate
NOTA BENE – COMPLETE/TOTAL BEGINNERS
Students with no English cannot be accepted on any TIS courses except for the Personal Intensive Course. If you are a complete beginner who is able to come for 24 weeks or longer, please discuss this with us. We can work out a suitable start-up programme to help complete beginners progress to elementary and then join a group class.

Suitable for all age groups who simply want to improve their use of English

The additional 5 hours on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons enable you to choose from a range of options or special focus courses such as Communication Skills, Business, Examination Preparation (IELTS and others), Literature, Introduction to Law and others when available.

Levels: Pre-Intermediate to Advanced
5 hours tuition per week in “Communication Skills for Business” - suitable for students wishing to learn English in a business context - secretaries, junior office staff etc. . This option is NOT SUITABLE for experienced managers or executives. They should choose NEW BUSINESS or one of the other EBPP courses are recommended in this case. Minimum 2 weeks - maximum 6 weeks as part of General English Plus Options above.
Preparation for IELTS, FCE, CAE, CPE, TOEIC, TOEFL and BEC - the Cambridge Business English Certificate. 3 weeks or longer.
This is a full day course with General English classes in the mornings and mini-group Business classes every afternoon from Monday to Friday inclusive. 1, 2, 3 or 4 weeks.
This programme is for people who want a very intensive morning course to help them make rapid progress. The course is 15 hours per week (3 hours each morning Monday to Friday inclusive) and with a maximum of 4 students per class. 1, 2, 3 or 4 weeks
