Terms and Conditions 2012

PAYMENTS:
Registration fees should be paid at the time of your registration.
All course and accommodation fees must be paid 28 days before the arrival date. In the case of late bookings all fees are to be paid immediately.
Club TIS Hotel, residence, flat-shares and apartment fees must be paid 28 days before arrival or we cannot guarantee availability.

CANCELLATIONS
Cancellations for courses paid at the full 1- 4 week rate: Cancellations made less than 28 days before the arrival date will forfeit up to the first four weeks payment of tuition and accommodation fees, homestay arrangement and registration fees. Fees paid for flats/apartments,
residences and Club TIS Hotel cannot be refunded unless the accommodation is re-let for the cancelled/curtailed period. All cancellation notifications must be sent by email to study@tisenglish.co.uk . Cancellation notifications for students scheduled to arrive the next Monday must be made by 1200 UK time on the Friday preceding the arrival weekend – any cancellations made after that time will be
treated as a non- arrival/no show and in this case no fees can be refunded.

Cancellations for courses paid at the reduced long stay rate: Students paying reduced rate fees must pay all course fees at least 4 weeks before commencement and no tuition refunds can be made after this date.

Curtailment: Students who have commenced their course and wish to leave must give four weeks notice of their wish to curtail the course unless they have paid a reduced long-stay fee and in that case no refunds of tuition will be given under any circumstances. Homestay fees will be refunded except for the first two weeks of the cancelled dates. No fees will be refunded for other accommodation unless it is re-let during the period of the original arrangement.

Course Upgrades/Downgrades: Students may upgrade their course at any time and representatives are entitled to additional discount for upgrades. Students may not downgrade to a cheaper course and no refunds can be made in these circumstances.

Visa Requirements: All students wishing to apply for visas under the current UK Border Agency rulings must be interviewed by a senior member of staff to ensure they are bona fide students with a genuine intention to study in the UK. The TIS Administration Manager will assist with all further procedures relating to the applications for visas for non-EEA students.

No fees will be refunded after a student has completed their stay.

Complaints Procedure: Students are given a Students’ Handbook and Feedback Form on their arrival at the school which tells them what procedure to follow if they encounter any problems regarding their course or accommodation.

Long Stay Rates: Discounts are available for students on courses for 5 weeks or longer. Students wishing to pay these discounted rates must pay all their tuition fees in advance and these are non-refundable. If students do not wish to accept these terms then they should pay at the standard weekly rate.

Beginners (A1) can only be accepted on 1-1 programmes. Very occasionally we have very low level classes on General English courses but you must check with us first - an online diagnostic test is available. Our lowest level is normally A2 - Elementary. If a complete beginner enrols on any of our group courses please note that they will not be able to join a class. If you have any doubt about whether a student is a beginner or not it is much better to test them first. We can supply an online diagnostic test.

NON-ARRIVAL: Late cancellations must be made by telephone AND in writing to us before 1700 UK time on the Friday before the course commencement date. No fees will be refunded if a cancellation is made after 1700 UK time on the Friday before the course commencement date.
CANCELLATION / MEDICAL INSURANCE
We strongly advise all clients to take out cancellation insurance and we recommend Course-u-can who are our insurers and specilise in student insurance. 5 Star Studentguard covers travel insurance, cancellation, loss of money and medical expenses. Click on the banner below to arrange your travel insurance.
CURTAILMENT OF COURSES: Students cutting short their stay are not entitled to a tuition fees refund. Accommodation fees will, under most circumstances, be refunded except for the first two weeks of the cancelled dates.

COURSE UPGRADES: Students may upgrade their courses at any time. Refunds will not be given if students choose to downgrade to a cheaper course.

REFUND OF FEES (tuition and accommodation): No fees can be refunded after a student has completed their stay.

COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE: Students are given a Students’ Handbook and Feedback Form on their arrival at the school which tells them what procedure to follow if they encounter any problems regarding their courses or accommodation. Any complaints or problems must be taken up with the school staff at the time of the problem and cannot be considered once the student has left the school or accommodation.

Terms & Conditions 2013

We will always do our best to meet your needs and help you achieve your study goals and provide you with the services advertised in our publicity material and on our website. Full and up-to-date details of all our courses, accommodation and other services are published at www.tisenglish.co.uk

Your Booking: You can enrol at www.tisenglish.co.uk/how-to-book-how-to-pay/ or on our enrolment form. It is essential that you give us all the information we ask for and it is important that you tell us if you have a medical condition, allergies or other particular needs on booking. It is especially important to tell us if you have any serious difficulties with hearing, sight or mobility.

Beginners: We cannot accept complete beginners on any of our group courses. If you are uncertain of your English level, contact us and we can give you a simple test.

Paying Us: When you make your enrolment we ask you to send us the registration fee and the accommodation booking fee. Receipt of this means we can go ahead and make all the arrangements for your course.
If you require a visa support letter, you will need to pay your full tuition fees once your enrolment has been confirmed.

We need to receive the balance of your payment 28 days before the start date of your course or straight away if you want your course to start sooner than this. You can pay by bank transfer, credit or debit card and you must pay all bank charges and costs.

Our Bank: HSBC plc, 14 Fore Street, St. Marychurch, Torquay, Devon, TQ1 4ND, UK. Account Name: Torquay International School Ltd. Swift Code: MIDLGB22. IBAN: GB83MIDL40444371136534.

Paying by Credit Card: We accept everything except American Express. There is an administration charge of 2.5% on top of the payment you make. You are able to pay securely through our website and your card details will be destroyed after payment.

Prices: All prices in our pricelist are valid throughout 2013 and tuition fees for 2014 are charged at the 2013 rates if booked before 1st November 2013. It is extremely unlikely that there will be any changes to our prices but this could happen if there are changes to government regulations or taxation laws. However, if you have already paid for your course and accommodation, no supplements will be charged.

Insurance: We strongly recommend that you travel with adequate insurance to cover expenses in case of emergency and also fees and costs in case of cancellation or curtailment.

Cancelling or Changing Your Course or Accommodation before Arrival: All changes have to be in writing. If you are cancelling because your visa has been refused, we will refund all fees except administration costs and any courier delivery charges, but you must produce the visa refusal notification. If you are cancelling for another reason, the money refunded depends upon how much notice you give us:

28 days or more before your arrival date - full refund less registration fee and accommodation placement fee.

27 to 14 days before your arrival date - full refund less registration fee, accommodation placement fee, one week tuition fee and one week accommodation fee.

13 days to mid-day on the Friday before your arrival date - full refund less registration fee, accommodation placement fee, first four weeks tuition fee and first two weeks accommodation fee.

Cancellations made after Friday mid-day before the weekend of your arrival or non-arrivals will not receive any refund on tuition fees. All host family fees will be refunded except for the first two weeks. If you cancel the Club TIS Hotel, Cedar Cottage or Rosa, we do not give any refund unless we are able to re-let during the time of your booking.

Changing Your Course or Accommodation after Arrival: All changes have to be in writing: you are able to upgrade if possible, but we do not give a refund if you cancel, curtail your stay or change to a cheaper course. If you cancel your host family, we refund everything except the next two full weeks. If you cancel the Club TIS Hotel, Cedar Cottage or Rosa, we do not give any refund unless we are able to re-let during the time of your booking.

Complaints: If you have a problem whilst you are in the school, let us know immediately so we can help you. The complaints procedure is detailed in your Student Handbook. We want you to enjoy your time with us and will work hard to make this happen. However, no refunds can be given after you have completed your stay.
When We Might Change your Course: Although it is extremely rare, we may cancel or offer you a different course if we do not have enough students at your level. If you are on a 30 hour Business English course, we would give you 1-1 tuition for 24 hours each week instead of the group lessons, or; if you are studying a 15-hour course, we would give 1-1 tuition for 12 hours per week.

Please Remember: For your own benefit and the benefit of your fellow students, you are expected to speak English at all times and behave respectfully to other students and staff.

When We are Open: All classes take place on weekdays and the school is open and from 08.30 to 17.30 daily. Unless you have made special arrangements for a week-end course, the school is closed at weekends and also each year for two weeks over the Christmas and New Year holiday. Details are available at www.tisenglish.co.uk. Classes take place as usual on all other public, religious or bank holidays including Easter.
